Get i810 driver in Fedora 18?
I am attempting to install Fedora 18 (or any modern Linux distro, I've tried several) on an ancient Fujitsu ST4110 tablet PC, which apparently has an 82830M graphics chipset. This particular line of devices has always had a common issue - the default display drivers of "intel" or "vesa" cause the screen to show a bunch of lines and fade to white as soon as X tries to load up.
Thankfully, there is a solution for this! If you can manage to explicitly set the display driver to "i810", it'll work just fine.
Which makes it quite unfortunate that the "i810" driver has been deprecated and outright removed. Yes, the "intel" driver is supposed to cover i810 devices, but on this particular device, it outright does not, and this has been documented plenty of times.
Therefore, I simply seek to get the real "i810" module back onto a current distribution.
